Our History
The Schulz family has a long history in the
diamond and watch jewelry business. This tradition continues from Bob
Schulz to his son, Matthew Schulz.
Bob Schulz’s father and grandfather came to this country from
Hanover, Germany in 1923. They were graduates of a master watchmaker
school in Germany. There were few watchmakers in the the United
States, and Schulz’s grandfather and father were brought to this
country to assemble watches for Gruen Watch Company on Watch Hill in
Cincinnati.
Eventually, after repairing watches and becoming a store manager, he
decided to open his own business. In 1953, Schulz and Sons Jewelers
opend its doors on Madison Avenue in Covington. Bob Schulz was only 11
years old when Schulz and Sons Jewelers began business. Like Matt he
cleaned counters and studied the trade at an early age.
Henry, the grandfather, worked until he was 86 years old and his
brother Ed until he was 70. Shortly after Henry’s passing Ed and Bob
opened a second location Latonia. The current location in Fort
Mitchell-Expressway Plaza, opened in 1997.
